Sew a Soft Storage Basket

📐 Pattern Pieces

1. Base (circle)

   • Diameter = basket width (e.g., 25–30 cm).

   • Cut 1 piece from outer fabric + 1 piece from lining fabric + 1 piece from stabilizer (fusible interfacing, batting, or foam).

2. Side (rectangle)

   • Height = desired basket height (e.g., 25–30 cm).

   • Length = base circumference + 2 cm (seam allowance).

   • Cut 1 piece from outer fabric + 1 piece from lining + 1 piece from stabilizer.

🧵 Sewing Instructions

1. Prepare the side panel: Sew the short edges of the rectangle together to form a cylinder.

2. Attach the base: Sew the circular base to the bottom of the cylinder (first lining, then outer fabric).

3. Assemble basket and lining: Place outer basket and lining right sides together. Sew along the top edge, leaving a small opening.

4. Turn inside out: Pull through the opening, press edges.

5. Topstitch the upper rim for a clean finish.

6. Add handles if desired.

💡 Tips

• For sturdiness, use foam, thick felt, or fusible interfacing between layers.

• Embroider the design before assembly, centered on the side rectangle.

• Quilting the side panel with stabilizer will help the basket keep its shape.
