Tips for Embroidered Text

Has anyone dealt with with warping and sloppy embroidered text?  I use Wilcom embroidery software and lately my text has come out warped with uneven letters even thought it looks completely normal in the software.  They only way I've been able to fixt it is by exaggerating each individual letter to compensate which is very tedious and frustrating.  Are there digitizing tips for this?  Is it a hardware issue with the sewing machines?  Any advice helps.
