Monograms and fun!

Hi all! I'm a beginner, literally just purchased my first machine (Brother PE-770). I am literally wanting to hear about all of the ins and outs and secrets that you're willing to give! I will probably mainly use the machine for monograms and such for myself, daughter, and other family members until I get used to it to be able to start an in-home business. Where do you find monograms to use? And how to create them as well? Every tutorial I see just starts with the design/monogram already being on the flash drive. Again, ANY information would be great.
