From the digitizing side, use shorter stitches, longer stitches pull more. If there are any fills in the design make sure the underlay and top stitches are shorter than you usually use. Watch the density because it will pucker if there is to much and use your underlay to stabilize and provide color coverage instead of putting all the stitching on top. Work the design from center out.
