You cannot open a PDF file in BROTHER PE-Design (any version), you will need to covert the PDF to a JPG or similar file.  You can do this in a program like Corel Photopaint or Adobe Protoshop.  I also did some searching and found some software that will convert a PDF file to a JPG.  Here is a link:

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you. I thought I was going crazy because I thought you could take it into PE-Design Next. I ended up printing the PDF and scanning into Corel Paint, saving it as a .jpeg file and then pulled it into Brother PE-Design.
Next time, I will try the conversion in the internet site your provided. Thanks again.

Easy convert PDF format via any Image editor. Simple way. Open PDF file in Adobe Acrobat reader (free software) and click Ctrl+ Print Screen. And Ctrl +V (paste command) in image editor. File-Save - and choose graphic format.

I thought we could load a .PDF image to digitize in PE-Design Next.  I am going to "Image, Load", but PE-Design doesn't recognize the .PDF file.  Can someone tell me how to load this file?

Hello! PE-Design Next software does not support the direct import of PDF files for digitizing. However, there are a few steps you can follow to import your PDF image for digitizing:

Convert your PDF image to a supported file format such as BMP, JPEG, or PNG using a third-party software like Adobe Acrobat or an online conversion tool.

Open PE-Design Next and create a new design.

Click on "Image" from the main menu, then select "Load."

Choose the converted file you just saved and click "Open."

The converted image will now be displayed on the screen, and you can start digitizing your design.

I hope this helps, and let me know if you have any further questions!
