Transfer issues on Large embroidery designs

I'm using PE design 10 embroidery software. An 91/2 X 14 hoop. on a Brother Innov is 6500. I write the design to a USB - transfer it to the machine an it is not there. I've tried resizing to make sure it is in the frame, but no luck. the machine will allow me to "build' a large frame design on the machine and to transfer a purchased large design, but not my own. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
