monogramming an outdoor fabric

Featured Replies

Hello, I recently purchased Brother PE-770 machine and for the first project I am doing embroidery on some initials on an outdoor fabric. so Which stabilizer is the best for this purpose?

Thanks in advance.

You don't always have to use a stabilizer if it is outdoor like canvas or sumbrella you won't need it. You didn't say what type it is buy heavy fabrics can hold there own.

But if you want to use any stabilizer I would use cut-a-way.

Thanks for the reply, it is not Sunbrella brand but the same type of fabric exactly.....

Thank you for your response.....am making curtains with the said fabric and I am afraid that the cut away would show ruining the monnogram....

I was thinking cushion, so no curtains, I would not use any stabilizer . I would use a matching bobbin thread for the monogram to look good from both the sides.

Thanks rosemary, this is of great help.

I agree I would use the same color bobbin thread on the curtains, that I have embroidered, as I have done a lot embroidery on this kind of fabric but I never used any stabilizer.

Do regular embroidery threads holds up in sun?

Thank you everyone! I may even monogram some vinyl as I will soonrecover all seats and cushions also....

Is vinyl a good choice to do this? And will it be comfortable?
