candace
What is the best way to embroidery on a loopy thick towel? I need the name to be clear and crisp. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
denpopov
What is your approx stitch count? Is it dense? Any satin stitching? Is the fabric a high pile and is there any stretch to the towel? Quote Link to comment
candace
I don't know the stitch count. I have a Bernina Artista 630. The stitching is fairly dense and it would be done in a statin stitch. All I can tell you about the towel is that it is a 100% cotton Ralph Lauren. Quote Link to comment
denpopov
Most towels are fairly stable w a thick pile Depending on the stitch count I would use one ot 2 pieces of a 1.5 or 1.8 oz "wet laid" firm but dense tearaway w a water soluble topping. Quote Link to comment
stitchlady
I also put WSS (film type ) on top of the towel, this stops the stitching from sinking into the pile. This can be torn away easily when you have finished embroidering Quote Link to comment
candace
What exactly is WSS? Quote Link to comment
stitchlady
it is water soluble stabiliser Quote Link to comment
candace
Water soluble topping which can also be called as Solvy and I think this wss is the best way to go, Quote Link to comment

Thanks. I use Super Solvey is thicker good for this. there are other makers too. "heavy weight water soluble". Ah, another tip I use is I buy very fine tulle, comes in many colors, and put that on top and then Solvy. I love detail so I look hard to bring it out from that towel. Quote Link to comment
