denpopov
I just picked up the Gunald Microfonts. I bought the thread and fine needles too. software is easy to use and sews nicely on my 12 needle Happy on my standard needles (75-11). But on the needle I set up with the 65-9 it suffers from thread breaks and kinda shreds the fine thread. I lowered the tension and it is better, but still a problem, cannot sew out a full line of text. Can I get some tips on sewing out fine text with fine thread? I'm practising on a woven apron using cutaway backing. thanks!' Quote Link to comment
AlexAbramov
Hi Den, So is everything the same except you changed the needle to a 65/9? Which thread did you buy? Quote Link to comment
denpopov
Actually, I bought the Poly 60 thread. 1 Quote Link to comment
AlexAbramov
Can you upload the file your trying to do and I will check it and run it on my machine? Quote Link to comment
denpopov
Can you upload the file your trying to do and I will check it and run it on my machine? I would, but it's just text in a small size, and stitches out fine on my other larger needles. I think I could use some advise on stabilizers, tension, or something else having to do with the machine, rather than the software? Quote Link to comment
sherry
I often use 60 weight thread (Madeira) with a 65/9 needle for small text. I also don't adjust the tension. I would check the thread path for lint and make sure the needle is in the correct position. How fast are you running? You might try slowing the machine speed. Quote Link to comment
candace
Ok, Try as sherry said and run the machine slower and check the needle. Your already using a cutaway backing, which I would recommend, Maybe try doubling up on it. Using a smaller needle should improve things not make them worse. Quote Link to comment
denpopov
I normally run at 950, slowed it down to 850, and it was better. What speed are you two stitching? I will try the double up on the backing. thanks! Quote Link to comment
rosemary
I run everything between 800-875spm. Quote Link to comment
sherry
It depends on the design and type of machine but you might trying slowing down until your establish a good running rate during the small text parts. Quote Link to comment
denpopov
ok, thanks to you both, I will try these things. Sounds like I am close, the last 6mm text stitched out without a break. Quote Link to comment
candace
it's pointless to use underlay also. make sure you turn that off. when I took the wilcom class in Atlanta they stressed not to go less than 5mm. if you do, use single thread. Quote Link to comment
rosemary
Another thing is don't let the machine trim at all in small text. Quote Link to comment
